An attic,
reclaimed.
Dead storage under the rafters became a bright, finished playroom, with custom built-ins shaped to fit every slope of the roofline.
Unfinished space, finally put to work.
This attic was the part of the house nobody used. Behind the walls it was bare studs, old wiring, and storage, with a sloped ceiling that made the whole space feel like an afterthought.
We took it down to the framing and rebuilt it as a room the family actually lives in. The awkward angles that made it hard to use became the best part of the design, with built-ins shaped to follow every line of the roof.
The result is a bright, comfortable playroom carved out of space that was already there.
From bare studs to a finished room
Same attic, before and after. Drag the handle across to see the change.
Before: stripped to the framing, insulation, and wiring. After: finished walls, hardwood flooring, recessed lighting, and custom built-ins.
Built-ins shaped to the roofline
Storage where there was none
Attic angles are usually wasted. Here the low knee walls and roof slopes were turned into custom built-in shelving and cabinets, fit on site so every cubby follows the pitch of the roof.
The same trim and white finish carry down the stairwell, so the new space reads as part of the house instead of a converted attic.
